News about Martin Collins

Trust crest colour

Dear Colleagues,

We have to share some information regarding one of our Norwich Dispatch Team Leaders, Martin Collins, who has been with the trust for 21 years.

Martin has recently been absent from work following an acute illness and has been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour. Martin remains at home to spend quality time with his family and is to receive palliative care as the prognosis given is weeks. Martin and his family are being closely supported by Lee Brooks our Interim Norwich EOC SOCM.

During this difficult time for the family, they wish to be given some privacy and to not be contacted directly. Chris Scott is the Family Liaison Officer. If you wish to send messages of thoughts and best wishes, please direct them to Chris Scott who will then be able to pass this on to the family.

For those who know Martin the news has come as a shock and it is important we all take time to support each other and ourselves. Please reach out to your line manager if you require any support.

Please remember that we provide a confidential free support service via our Employee Assistance Programme, which includes 24 hour ‘In Crisis’ telephone support for employees in severe emotional distress and you can access this helpline on 0808 196 2370. There is also a helpline that provides free, confidential advice and guidance on a wide range of subjects including work or personal relationship issues and mental health and wellbeing and this can be accessed on 0808 196 2374.

The Ambulance Service Charity (TASC) is also available for any current or former NHS (or private CQC registered) ambulance service employee with more than 12 months service, or their close family, and for university student paramedics who are in year 2 or 3 of their studies. TASC offers help with mental, physical, and financial wellbeing. It can include counselling, physiotherapy, help with substance abuse, bereavement, financial issues or general wellbeing.
