Aims:

To consider approaches to care for those who are approaching the end of life and call 999.

Objectives:

• To recognise dying
• To describe the role of anticipatory medicines to keep patients comfortable
• To explore documents available to aid decision making (including Respect and DNACPR forms)
• To recognise palliative care emergencies
• To consider approaches to difficult conversations
• To identify services available to support palliative care patients
