Pension scheme auto enrolment

NHS Pensions

To help people save for their retirement, all employers are required by law to provide a workplace pension scheme for certain staff and also pay money into it on their behalf.

Staff will be re-enrolled into a workplace pension scheme on the 1st August 2022, if you meet all of the following criteria:

  • You earn over £192 per week (or £833 per month)
  • You are aged 22 or over
  • You are under state pension age
  • You left a pension scheme prior to 1st August 2021

You may opt out of the pension scheme if you want to, but if you stay in, you will have your own pension when you retire. Your pension will belong to you, even if you leave the Trust in the future.

We will not be able to assess exactly which staff will be enrolled into a pension scheme, until after the Payroll has been run in the middle of AugustTherefore, further details will be sent to you by post, prior to you receiving your August payslip, if you have met the above criteria, along with instructions on how to opt out.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to opt out before the enrolment notice has been issued to you.
