Public see a day in the life of EEAST: #24HourinEOE

Last Friday saw the return of #24HoursInEoE, our 24-hour ‘twitterthon’ – where we LIVE tweet from all three EOCs and an ambulance for 24 hours.

The aim of these events is to help give the public an immersive burst of the types of call we are receiving, show the volume we are dealing with on a daily basis, especially on days like 'Black Friday', and to spotlight the continued amazing hard work of our staff and volunteers.

Also this year, to give us a bumper edition we joined with ours 999 colleagues, Essex Police and Essex County Fire & Rescue Service for part of their #Essex999Live Twitter event that took place during the day.

Head of Communications Joy Hale said: “I’d like to thank everyone who supported us in the run up to the day, and during the Twitterthon itself. Engagement and communications is not exclusive to our team, so it gave more colleagues an opportunity to be ambassadors for the Trust. These ‘thons show people what the 999 service and response can entail and whilst it will never give the full picture, there are immediate gains from getting people to think about using NHS services and the longer-term gains of adding more followers who will see our messaging.”

Over the course of the day and night, we posted 183 tweets, had more than 1,500 retweets and likes, and had a reach to 379,000 people. You can look back at the full Twitterthon on the Trust’s Twitter page and use the hashtag #24HoursInEOE.

Thank you to all our staff and volunteers that got involved. Whether we were sitting with you in EOC, riding out with you through the night, tweeting from your day or retweeting our messages, your contributions really helped us make this the best one yet.
