Refreshed perspective of the Five Year Forward view

The NHS has published plans setting out how practical improvements in areas prized by patients and the public – cancer, mental health and GP access – can be delivered as the service prepares for its 70^th year of operation.

Next Steps on the NHS Five Year Forward View also proposes how the NHS can transform the way care is delivered to ease pressure on hospitals by helping frail and older people live healthier, more independent lives.

These measures also aim to help to put the service on a more sustainable footing for the future, and details the momentum needed to improve efficiency and use of technology in order to deliver better care and meet rising demand within the constraints of available resources.
