Reporting vehicle accidents to the Police

Any Trust employee involved in a road traffic collision or incident in a Trust vehicle, where injury is caused, or even possibly caused, must ensure that all such occurrences are reported to the Police. This is in accordance with the Trust's Standard Operating Procedure FL19.

Section 170 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 outlines a driver’s legal responsibility when involved in an incident. An individual found guilty of failing to comply may be found guilty of a criminal offence.

SOP FL19 offers guidance to staff, outlining when incidents should be reported to the Police. You can view SOPFL 19 here.

Remember, if in doubt …. report it!
