Sepsis Awareness Month - September 2023

Sepsis Awareness starts in September and Learning and Development have arranged several CPD courses to help raise awareness of sepsis for our clinicians.

There will be 12 half-day facilitated, face to face sessions across EEAST. To confirm your place click here Sepsis CPD - Booking Link.

Why should you attend one of the sessions:

Sepsis or blood poisoning is the most common time-critical medical emergency attended by UK paramedics. Sepsis treatment is simple, effective and quick to deliver and frontline paramedics may be able to significantly improve patient outcomes if empowered to recognise and treat sepsis.**

Research has found that 71% of paramedics have the skills to accurately identify patients at high risk of sepsis.

Each year around 245,000* patients in the UK develop sepsis, with up to 48,000 deaths associated with the condition. Pre-hospital clinicians have a vital part to play with the early detection, recognition, treatment, and management of sepsis.

This short CPD session will cover causes, recognition and treatment of sepsis in both adult and paediatric patients. The facilitators will explore the UK Sepsis Trust Sepsis 6 pathway which has been proven to halve the risk of patients dying. There will be a short session from those living with the aftereffects of sepsis and how it has impacted on their life.

These sessions have been created by frontline clinicians for frontline clinicians to enhance our paramedics assessment skills and support you in practice.
