In 2021 SORT and AIT merged into one SORT team, meaning all SORT staff need to be trained in both disciplines to maintain their compliance. As a Trust we are now in a position open SORT up to those staff in a wider range of clinical roles, now meaning the following staff groups can apply to join the EEAST SORT Project…
As a member of SORT, you will continue working in your current role, as well as having the opportunity to undergo an initial Occupational Health screening and Physical Competency Assessment (PCA) before choosing dates for a 3-day SORT CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) course and a 2-day SORT MTA (Marauding Terrorist Attack) course.
Once these are completed you are guaranteed 7 days of funded training per year plus the opportunities to participate in multi-agency exercises.
The majority of SORT training will be attended on rest days and on overtime, however, we will shortly be able to abstract staff for up to 3 of their 7 days of training each year. For those having to travel long distances for the training, hotel accommodation will be provided where required.
The courses have a full programme which is set at an accessible level to all staff, regardless of previous experiences and set in a relaxed learning environment.
