Stalham CFRs celebrate 10 years’ service

Stalham CFR 10 year anniversary

Managers and volunteers came together on Friday evening (13th March) to celebrate 10 years of community first responders (CFRs) in Stalham, Norfolk.

Co-ordinator Linda Darby and responder Mervyn Hardingham have been volunteering since the group began and were congratulated by Senior Locality Manager Di Chan and Duty Locality Officer Dale Meacham-Roberts.

Di said: “It was great to be there on Friday to celebrate such a brilliant milestone with the Stalham CFRs and I would like to reiterate our thanks to them all for their dedication for the last 10 years.”

Linda and Mervyn said: “It is nice to be thanked, but none of us expect it. We do it because we just like helping people when they are at their most vulnerable. Our members are always looking for ways to improve our patient care. Last year Tim Thirst received a Chief Officer’s Commendation for his work over the last five years in developing improvements in the training and use of First Responders in the East of England Ambulance Service. We are a friendly group and in the next few weeks will be training nine new members, but we are always on the lookout for more.”

Stalham CFRs also cover Hoveton, Ludham, Potter Heigham, Sutton, Catfield and Hickling and were on call for 5,862 hours in 2014.
