Summary Care Records & National Record Locator

Find a patient graphic

Providing clinicians with access to Summary Care Records (SCRa) and the National Record Locator (NRL) is part of the overall EEAST digital strategy to use technology to help frontline staff deliver the highest quality patient care.

Benefits

When accessing the Summary Care Record application, clinicians will be able to:

  • Look at a full patient GP history, including medications and allergies
  • View Child Protection Information Sharing  (CP-IS)
  • View Female Genital Mutilation Information Sharing (FGM IS)
  • View Overseas Visitors and Migrants (OVM)
  • View COVID-19 vaccination status
  • Through NRL – Mental Health Crisis plans
  • Through NRL – End of Life Care plans
  • View GP and hospital attendances
  • Refer to clinical information while on the road and reduce time taken liaising with other services
  • Provide a better patient experience by reducing the number of times patients need to repeat information

Currently 4500 Paramedics in London Ambulance Service (LAS) have iPads with SCRa access via fingerprint biometrics, here’s what they have to say:

Pilot in Cromer

To ensure a smooth and efficient roll out across the Trust, we started a pilot with 54 team members in Cromer and a small number of staff in the Norwich control centre on the 14th of March. We are testing the ease of registration using fingerprint biometrics for iPads and Smart Cards for ECAT laptop and PC users, as well as the process on how to access SCRa and the NRL.

The pilot will run until the end of March 2022 after which we will review and look to incorporate findings to improve the process, before creating a plan to roll out across the Trust.
