Know Your Blood Pressure event April 16

Staff, community first responders (CFRs), and graduate paramedics have been thanked after attending two annual blood pressure events in Felixstowe and Hadleigh which saw more than 360 blood pressures measured.

Both events took place last weekend in recognition of national stroke month in May.

The event organised by Rotary Club Felixstowe Landguard took place on Sunday (24th April); in total, 256 blood pressures were measured, with 49 of those requiring a routine follow up with their GP and 24 requiring an urgent follow up.

Daimon Wheddon, Area Clinical Lead, said: “We had a fantastic uptake from members of the public willing to have their blood pressures taken in recognition of national stroke month. It was fully supported by the stroke association and we had a very successful day.”

He added: “I would like to personally thank our team - Kate, Nicole, Rebecca, Jacqueline, David, Jon, Tracey, Dan, Charlotte and Courtney who gave up their free time to do some valuable health promotion with members of the public; this includes all the CFRs that attended and the Rotary Club members.”

The other event took place in Hadleigh, Essex and was organised by The Rotary Club of Hadleigh Castle on Friday, 22nd April and Saturday, 23rd April.

The number of blood pressures measured was 117. Three were recommended to hospital for immediate attention and a further 14 advised to see their GP as a matter of urgency.

Mike Jones from the Rotary Club said: “On behalf of the Rotary Club, I would like to thank Ryan, Ben, Gill and Julie for the great support over the weekend which helped to make our ‘know your blood pressure days’ such a success.”
