Transparent face masks now available

Transparent face mask

We are excited to announce that the Trust has purchased supplies of transparent masks for use with patients who are hearing impaired.

Did you know, it is estimated that there are about 12 million people in the UK who are deaf or hard of hearing. Deafness is the third most common disability in the world and the majority of deaf and hard of hearing people lipread as well as using hearing aids.

During the pandemic, it became difficult for hearing aid wearers to lipread when others were wearing masks. The transparent masks will make a real difference to the way we communicate with our hearing impaired patients.

If you would like to obtain these masks, please contact Supplies via East24.

If you have a query please contact the Disability Support Network: disabilitysupportnetwork@eastamb.nhs.uk
