Update from Anthony Marsh - 4th June 2015

Chief Executive Dr Anthony Marsh

I wanted to take this opportunity to say how pleased I was at the Trust Board meeting on Thursday to see some excellent staff participation, and how it really made a difference and brought to life some of the exceptional aspects of this organisation. We covered everything from a new clinical quality and safety strategy to the rapid response vehicle (RRV) procurement programme, as well as the usual performance, finance and workforce updates, in what was a varied and really upbeat meeting.

A particular highlight was hearing from the visions and values sub-group and I would like to thank Andy, Christina, Paul and Harri for their brilliant presentation on the work of this group. You can read more about how the group have developed the visions and values since you gave your feedback earlier this year in a separate article. The Board were delighted with the progression that has been made and have fully endorsed what the group have come up with; it gives us an extremely strong base to develop the future culture of the organisation into something we all want it to be.

The Board also appreciated hearing from Alex, a paramedic, who told us about his experiences working on an RRV over the last year or so and how the transformation of the Trust has positively affected his daily working life. It was a really inspiring account and led to a discussion about late finishes and back-up delays, which was very valuable. Thank you to Alex for giving up your time to attend and I reiterate the Board’s gratitude.

All staff are welcome to attend the Board meetings, which are held in different locations around the region to give you the opportunity to attend one closest to you. The next meeting is on the same day as our annual public meeting on 30th July in Hertfordshire.
