Use of Charitable Funds at Christmas

In light of the recent guidance for Christmas parties, the Trust is looking at ways to support staff and volunteers during this high-pressured period.

The EEAST charity exists to support staff and volunteers and is envisioned to provide support beyond what is ordinarily afforded by the NHS.

Currently, over 40% of all intensive care beds are occupied with Covid-19 positive patients and cases are rising. Whilst government guidance allows for gatherings outside of the workplace, in order for the Trust to continue to support the NHS response to the pandemic, and in line with current Trust Covid-19 restrictions, it is regrettable that the EEAST Charity will be unable to support the use of charitable funds for Christmas parties.

The charity can still be utilised in alternative ways in a COVID-19 compliant manner, whether it be via individual issued food parcels, wellbeing items or items purchased for on-site workplaces to enhance the working environment.

Requests need to be supported by gatekeepers for stations funds or the relevant operational manager and in line with the Charitable Funds strategy.
