Welcoming Rachael Edwards, deputy COO

We would like to welcome Rachael Edwards as Deputy Chief Operating Officer who commenced in post with the Trust at the beginning of May.

Rachael started her Nursing career in Scotland in 1987, moving to England on joining the Royal Navy where she served 7 years. She is passionate about urgent and emergency care and has spent the last 25 years working mostly in primary care focusing on clinical telephone triage and corporate and clinical governance. Rachael moved to NHS Wales 12 years ago where she worked in both secondary care and with health and social care before joining the Welsh Ambulance Service. Her roles included Head of Operations A&E and subsequently the Head of Clinical Contact Centres (AOC). Rachael has joined us from a 111, CAS, GP Out of Hours, and Urgent Treatment Centre provider where she was the Deputy Director of Nursing and Quality and is relocating, with her family to Norfolk.

As a result of the new recruitment, the Operations Senior Team’s portfolios have been re-aligned as follows and will commence from the 6th June:

Jon Moore, Deputy Chief Operating Officer - will be leading on A&E and Specialist Operations.

Rachael Edwards, Deputy Chief Operating Officer - will be leading on AOC and CFR’s.

Rob Ashford - Head of Operational Projects and Delivery will now be leading on Patient Transport Services, Air Operations, Basic’s and Private Ambulance Services, until the end of the financial year.

The team will continue to support across the trust area working together to deliver the trust priorities and workstreams as required.
