Beat stress, feel better: Men’s Health Week 2016

Ambulance side shot

We all get stressed. The question is - what do you do about it?

This is the theme of Men's Health Week 2016.

It matters because if we don’t release stress, it can turn into something more serious. This year, one in four of us will develop a mental health problem. That is odds of 3:1. Or about the same as France or Germany winning the UEFA EURO 2016. In other words, it’s likely to happen sooner or later if we let stress build.

So this Men’s Health Week (13th-19th), the message to men is: talk about how you beat stress, and talk about what causes it. Talk to your mates, talk to your family. And if you want to talk to a professional, why not try the Men’s Health Forum’s new Beat Stress service? You can email or text chat free, and anonymously, with experts trained in beating stress. Visit the Men’s Health Forum website for more info.

And remember, the Trust offers a free and confidential employee assistance programme (EAP) that you can access 24-hours a day, seven days a week, for information and advice on a wide range of problems - whether they be work, family or personal. It’s completely confidential - the only information you have to provide is that you are an employee of EEAST. You can access the EAP website at www.well-online.co.uk, and log in using:

  • Username: EEASTlogin
  • Password: wellbeing

Or you can call the 24/7 phone line on 0800 085 1376.
