Diabetes UK - as the leading national charity for people affected by diabetes – has up-to-date information and advice available for Muslims who live with diabetes, and their carers, who are considering fasting in this month, and who would like to know more about whether it is safe for them to do so.
As in previous years, this year once again we have worked with Healthcare Professionals and Imam’s to bring the latest information and guidance to you, all of which can be accessed online at:
Ramadan and diabetes | Fasting | Diabetes UK
The information includes:
From our webpages, you can also download our factsheets about fasting and managing your diabetes during Ramadan, which have been developed in partnership with the Muslim Council of Britain’s Diabetes Advisory Group.
These are available in English (PDF, 576KB), Arabic, Bengali and Urdu to share with friends or family who are not online.
Ramadan Webinar
In February 2022 we held a webinar on diabetes and Ramadan offering information and support for anyone preparing for and participating in the holy month.
As well as hearing from people with lived experience of diabetes and Ramadan, the event also included information from Moulana Azizur Rahman and health expert Dr Waqas Tahir, from Act as One and West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership. This webinar is available on YouTube:
Diabetes and Ramadan 2022 | Webinar | Diabetes UK - YouTube
as well as on our website at:

We would encourage you to take a look at our resources and share these with family and friends who may be affected by diabetes to ensure that everyone has a safe and healthy Ramadan.
