Learn how you can be part of Airways-2 study

There is still time for you to be trained to take part in the national clinical study, Airways-2 and be part of improving care for patients who have an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

We are one of only four ambulance trusts in the country to be taking part in Airways-2, which will start on 1^st July, and will gather evidence to indicate whether intubation or i-gel work better in a pre-hospital cardiac arrest situation. 

Currently there is not enough evidence available to indicate whether either method works better, but some trusts in England have already removed intubation as a choice for their paramedics.

The trial is not about removing either method but aims to add to the body of information which will allow paramedic practice to move forward using the best methods available to ensure we deliver the highest standard of patient care.

More than 250 EEAST paramedics have been recruited to take part in the study already and the following training dates are being offered for you to sign up before it starts:
