V Festival no treble for EEAST

Staff and volunteers have been praised for their hard work during a ‘very successful’ V Festival in Chelmsford.

Hundreds of festival goers were treated for minor ailments and a small number were taken to hospital over the course of the Hylands Park event (21^st – 23^rd August).

With problems ranging from dislocated shoulders and allergic reactions to cuts and an overindulgence of alcohol, EEAST teams treated more than 600 patients over the three days, which saw more than 50,000 people descend on the site.

Locality Director Rob Ashford said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who was involved in this event including the operational, control and support staff.

“For the most part it was very successful and we’re impressed with how well it was managed by everyone involved. We worked closely with colleagues from St John Ambulance Service, the on-site pharmacy and our fellow emergency services colleagues to make sure that people got the help they needed.

“We’ll be advertising for help for the 2016 event in the new year, so please keep an eye on Need to Know for updates.”

As well as having a number of ambulances and response cars based at the four stages and main field hospital, our hazardous area response team was on patrol in the Polaris vehicle to get to any hard to reach areas – all looked after by the staff in the on-site mini-EOC.
