Celebrating World Patient Safety

The Trust will be supporting the World Health Organisation's (WHO) global event, World Patient Safety Day. 

We will be celebrating what the Trust has achieved to support the five WHO goals from 2020-2021 ‘Speak up for Health worker safety’ and on World Patient Safety Day itself, we will be focusing on the 2021-2022 goal 'Safe maternal and newborn care'.

Finally, there are many free external events in support of World Patient Safety Day. You can view a selection of these below. 

• Healthcare Safety Investigations Conference - Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (hsib.org.uk) to be held virtually on 16^th September 10-15:30. Sharing learnings from HSIB investigations, investigation science, safety management systems, making maternity care safer, sharing case studies and patient stories.
• Maternity and Neonatal Cultural Awareness Programme (eastamb.nhs.uk) NHS England and NHS Improvement are providing cultural awareness information, guidance and advice for maternity and neonatal professionals on 9^th, 23^rd September and 7^th
• Maternity safety and the role of restorative practice - Harmed Patients Alliance and Baby lifeline are hosting a free webinar on 17^th September 17.00 – 19.20, focusing on maternity safety and the role of restorative practice when things go wrong.
• Improving patient safety in NHS maternity and neonatal care (england.nhs.uk) 17^th September 9:00 – 10:00. This online event will feature key speakers including Aidan Fowler, two National Maternity Safety Champions, Tony Kelly, National Clinical Lead for MatNeoSIP, Jacqueline Dunkley-Bent and Matthew Jolly.

• It’s the WHO World Patient Safety Day 2021 Virtual Global Conference, 13:00-17:00 on Friday 17^th September.  Keynote addresses by global patient safety leaders and advocates, global landscape and stories on maternal and newborn health & safety and panel discussions. World Patient Safety Day 2021 Virtual Global Conference (who.int)
