New date for emergency services mental health workshop

EEAST RRVs and amb on scene

Following on from our successful emergency services workshop last month, a new date has been set for Essex and places are now available.

This experiential workshop will take place at Essex Police headquarters in Chelmsford on 14th June, between 1-2pm, and will include colleagues from fire and police. There will also be a similar workshop for senior management between 10am-12pm.

The event, supported by mental health charity MIND, is a follow-up session looking specifically at how we can better support those in the emergency services when it comes to mental health.

Health and Wellbeing Manager Debra Winterson said: “At the first workshop, we looked at what we already do to support mental health in the workplace, what we can do better, and what we will actually do going forward. This one is to feed back some of our findings, and to give people a chance to experience a wellbeing technique first-hand, which we hope will provide some real fun.

“We are passionate and committed to looking after our staff, and workshops like these are a great opportunity to have a say and work with us in building our wellbeing service across the Trust.”

Regular readers of Need to Know will know that we reached a new milestone in wellbeing last week, as Chief Executive Robert Morton and Chair Sarah Boulton signed Mind’s Blue Light Time to Change Employer Pledge.

This encourages organisations to publicly commit to a series of actions that will tackle the stigma and discrimination around mental health, focusing on the workplace. By signing the pledge, the Trust must demonstrate it has produced an action plan, detailing what will be delivered to demonstrate commitment to the mental health of staff.
