Continued levels of service pressure

EXEC UPDATE

EEAST has declared a Business Continuity Incident for the second time this month as a consequence of 999 call volumes and hospital handover delays.

Declaring a Business Continuity Incident means we can ensure our resources are focused on patients with the greatest need, as well as allowing us to access wider support from our health and care partners.

Chief Executive Tom Abell said:
“I understand how challenging the current situations is.
We know that everyone, across the organisation is feeling the strain of this sustained and relentless pressure.
Not just our frontline clinicians and call handlers, but all our HALOs at hospitals, operational staff, staff in our Ambulance Operations Centres, our make ready and fleet crews – and everyone else supporting them.
“I want to thank you for your professionalism and dedication, and to assure you that I and the executive team are doing everything within our power to get the resources to allow you to respond to our patients as speedily and effectively as we can.

“As we continue through this period of exceptional pressure, remember that we react to it in different ways at different times, so please look out for your colleagues, and take care of yourselves  too – and access our wellbeing support if and whenever you need it.”
