Problems with NHSMail accounts

Typing

As you may be aware, users across the country are still having problems accessing their secure NHSmail accounts (ending nhs.net).

NHSmail is a secure email service approved by the Department of Health for sharing patient identifiable/sensitive information. Unfortunately, a test email was sent to all NHSmail users yesterday (14th November), which has caused huge delays across the email network. The problem has been exasperated by people then ‘replying to all’ from the original email.

If you have an NHSMail account, please:

  • be aware that when you log in, the system will be slow and you will likely have hundreds of these emails in your inbox
  • do not reply to the emails around this issue, and just ignore/delete them
  • don’t raise any NHSMail account issues with our IT Service Desk; as NHSMail is a secure email sevice hosted outside of EEAST, our IT department can’t help to resolve the issue
  • don’t send any patient identifiable or sensitive information (that you would normally send via your NHSMail account) via your Trust eastamb.nhs.uk email account, as this isn’t secure.

We’ll provide an update as soon as we have one from the national NHSMail team – thanks for your understanding and patience.

For any other IT issues you need help with, you can contact the IT service desk on 0845 6012509, extension 4811, or by emailing itservicedesk@eastamb.nhs.uk.
